We are currently working toward lowering our ISO rating in our district. We will receive our next ISO inspection some time after April 2012. The Department will be evaluated in several areas and receive a rating from 1 to 10. This rating affects the fire insurance rates of the homes and businesses in our district. We are currently rated at a split 6/9 district but intend to go to one rating district wide. This would mean that people living in non-hydranted areas of our district would receive the same rating as the hydranted areas. The lower the rating the more savings for the people we serve.
Junaluska Fire Department held their annual Christmas dinner on December 16, 2011 at Granny's Kitchen in Cherokee. Lieutennant Chad Moody was presented with the Billy J. Jaynes Firefighter of the Year award. Congratulations to Chad and thanks to all of our members for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
